Growing up, Lizette Yackle’s sisters and aunt would always play salsa and merengue music and dance around the house for fun. She loved how fun and social it was and joined in. It sparked something within her – a passion and connection to music and movement – that has remained constant in her life. With over a decade of training in Egyptian folkloric and classical oriental, Lizette’s recently returned to her first love, salsa. Lizette’s introduced her classic style with an edge of sass to cultural events ranging from Diwali nights at Northeastern Illinois University to the Nachle Express Dance Competition in 2010 at Benedictine University. When she’s not dancing, Lizette, who has her Master’s of Education in Higher Education (M.Ed.), spends her days as pre-Health Advisor at Loyola University and her evenings and weekends enjoying the company of her soon-to-be-husband and two puggles, cooking, drinking wine, and laughing.
